We have spent last 2 nights at Sossus Oasis Campsite. We met a couple of very nice South Africans from Cape Town and sat round their fire chatting. They had booked a balloon flight yesterday morning so we went out to the desert to watch them flying. Contacted the balloon operation owners and have an invitation to go and meet them but not sure yet if we will.
Yesterday afternoon we took the Enterprise to play in the sand at Sossusvlei. Without lowering the pressure in all 6 tyres we got bogged down but did free ourselves without needing a tractor tow out. We were short of time to exit the park before sunset but the light on the dunes in the late afternoon sun was spectacular, much better than on our return this morning first thing. Today's visit was to view Dead Vlei from a dune ridge having taken the shuttle vehicle to get through the deep sand. We had a sand blasting experience on our faces on the fast ride back to the car park. I then climbed to the very top of Dune 45 with bare feet and felt a great sense of achievement. I'm sure there were frogs croaking in the desert below.
Shortly leaving Sesriem where we have been very lucky to get the last camping place both nights. Back to Solitaire and onwards to Walvis Bay
